China to see over 250m passenger trips during holiday period

BEIJING – China expects to handle a total of 255.54 million passenger trips during the weeklong National Day holiday, the Ministry of Transport said on Friday.

From Oct 1 to 7, the estimated daily average number of passenger trips made by rail, road, water and air came in at 36.51 million, the ministry said.

Of the total, 198.24 million trips are expected to be made by road, while waterway trips are forecast to reach 4.64 million.

During the holiday, the transport sector has remained generally stable, the ministry said.
