China’s commerce minister meets with US counterpart

Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo in Washington on Thursday, according to China's commerce ministry.

The two sides had frank, professional and constructive exchanges of views on China-US economic and trade relations and issues of mutual concern, the ministry said in a news release published on its website.

The meeting took place while Wang was attending the 2023 APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting

China expressed pressing concerns on US economic and trade policies toward China, semiconductor policy, export controls and foreign investment review, according to the ministry.

Both sides agreed to establish communication channels to maintain and strengthen exchanges on specific economic and trade concerns and cooperation initiatives, the ministry said.
