CPC urged to keep drawing on experience

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized on Tuesday the need for the CPC to forever preserve its advanced nature and purity and keep enhancing its ability to innovate, power to unite and capacity to struggle.

While addressing the opening of a study session at the Party School of the CPC Central Committee, attended by provincial and ministerial-level officials, Xi said that the Party must always maintain a sober mind and a firm position on the fundamental issue of in whose interests the Party governs, uses power and creates benefits.

The reason why the CPC has led the people in making successive achievements, got through various difficulties and won support from the people is that it dares to face up to its own problems and has the courage to conduct self-reform, said Xi, who is also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission.

Even though the CPC has secured an overwhelming victory in its fight against corruption, President Xi warned that all members must always maintain a spirit of self-reform and be more politically conscientious in exercising full and strict Party self-governance, a journey to which there is no end

He urged all Party members to strictly observe social virtues and be strict with their own conduct, calling on them to stay away from wrongdoing, serve the public interest, seek self-improvement through frugality and forever maintain their integrity.

He called for unrelenting efforts in improving the Party's work style and the anti-corruption campaign, saying that it would be a long and tough battle that must be fought with fortitude and persistence.

He stressed that Party discipline and the law would hold accountable whoever is found to have engaged in wrongdoing.

President Xi said that contemporary China is experiencing the greatest and most unique period of innovation in human history, and the nation faces unprecedentedly arduous tasks in its reform, development and stability, in addition to various conflicts, risks, challenges and other tests for national governance

The study session was held for the senior officials to better understand the historic resolution adopted at the sixth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC in November.

Xi highlighted the need for heightened efforts to review, learn and promote the Party's history and to grasp and use the CPC's century of experience.

He noted that if a nation is always to remain at the forefront, it cannot be without theoretical thinking or correct ideological guidance even for a moment.

He said that contemporary China is experiencing the greatest and most unique period of innovation in human history, and the nation faces unprecedentedly arduous tasks in its reform, development and stability, in addition to various conflicts, risks, challenges and other tests for national governance.

The Party must accurately grasp the prevailing trend of the times, remain courageously at the forefront of human development, listen to the voices of the people and respond to their realistic needs, he said.

It is important to align efforts in adhering to and developing Marxism and put the theory in the context of China in the new era and continue to combine basic Marxist principles with China's reality and the nation's fine traditional culture, he said.

He highlighted the issue of strategy as a fundamental issue for a political party and a nation, saying that, at key junctures in history, the CPC has always managed to understand, analyze and judge the major historic issues it has faced from a strategic perspective before coming up with the correct political strategies.

The CPC, as a major Party leading a major nation in fulfilling a great cause, must excel in strategic thinking and putting issues in a strategic perspective, he said.

Xi called for local authorities and different departments to implement the strategic decisions made by the CPC Central Committee in an unconditional manner, saying that their work plans and policies must be in alignment with the Party's theories and policies.

Xi rallied the whole Party to continue moving forward with the campaign of Party history learning and education, which was launched by the CPC in February 2021, in order to better arm the whole Party with its innovative theories and fully carry out the various decisions and plans made by the CPC Central Committee.
