J-20 stealth fighters join pioneering air force unit

HARBIN – China's J-20 stealth fighters have been commissioned to a pioneering unit of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) air force, it was announced in a themed event on Friday.

Celebrated for its rich revolutionary legacy and brave history, the unit boasts a combat record of shooting down or damaging 92 enemy aircraft since its predecessor unit was established.

In recent years, it has remained a trailblazer in flying new air routes and reaching new areas, operating missions from China's coastal regions to the west Pacific Ocean.

With J-20 stealth fighters deployed to the pioneering unit and other honored air force units, the PLA air force will increase its combat capability. It will also better carry out its duty of safeguarding China's sovereignty, security and development interests, said a PLA air force official.
