Li Qiang makes public pledge as premier, to meet press Monday

BEIJING –  Chinese President Xi Jinping signed a presidential order on Saturday morning to appoint Li Qiang as premier Saturday at the ongoing session of China's national legislature.  

Li made a public pledge of allegiance to the Constitution after being endorsed as Chinese premier at a plenary meeting of the first session of the 14th National People's Congress, the country's national legislature.

The new premier will meet the press on Monday morning at the Great Hall of the People after the conclusion of the first session of the 14th NPC, according to the press center for the first session of the 14th NPC.

The event will be broadcast live by China Media Group, and xinhuanet.com will provide live broadcast in photos and text, said the press center on Saturday.

Nearly 3,000 National People's Congress deputies voted to approve the nomination by Xi Jinping

Zhang Youxia and He Weidong were endorsed as vice-chairmen of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) at the annual session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) on Saturday. Li Shangfu, Liu Zhenli, Miao Hua and Zhang Shengmin were endorsed as CMC members.

Nearly 3,000 NPC deputies voted to approve the nomination by Xi Jinping, chairman of the CMC of the PRC. 

After their endorsement, the vice-chairmen and members of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) pledged allegiance to the Constitution.

Liu Jinguo was elected director of the National Commission of Supervision on Saturday at the ongoing first session of the 14th National People's Congress and made a public pledge of allegiance to the Constitution at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

At the same session, Zhang Jun was elected president of the Supreme People's Court while Ying Yong was elected procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate.
