Mainland reports 19 new local COVID-19 cases in Guangdong

BEIJING/GUANGZHOU – The Chinese mainland on Monday reported 19 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, all in Guangdong province, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Tuesday.

Of the new cases, 14 were posted in Guangzhou, three in Shenzhen, and one each in Foshan and Zhanjiang, according to the provincial health commission of Guangdong

Fourteen of the fresh cases were reported in the provincial capital Guangzhou, three in Shenzhen, one in Foshan and one in Zhanjiang, according to the provincial health commission of Guangdong.

The province also reported three imported confirmed cases and nine imported asymptomatic ones.

Meanwhile, the mainland on Monday also saw 14 new imported cases. Besides the three cases in Guangdong, two each were posted in Inner Mongolia, Shanghai and Fujian, and one each in Beijing, Tianjin, Jiangsu, Sichuan and Yunnan.

No new suspected cases or deaths related to COVID-19 were reported, the National Health Commission said.

There were 409 patients still receiving treatment, 10 of whom were in severe conditions, it said.

By Monday, the mainland had reported a total of 91,300 confirmed cases, 86,255 recoveries and 4,636 deaths. A total of 6,165 imported cases had been reported with no fatalities.

There were two suspected COVID-19 cases on the mainland on Monday.

Also on Monday, 16 new asymptomatic cases were reported, all of whom arrived from abroad. 

More than 794.1 million vaccine doses had been administered across the mainland as of Monday, the commission said.

By the end of Monday, 11,865 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 210 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR),  51 cases in the Macao SAR, and 11,491 cases, including 286 deaths, in Taiwan.

A total of 11,584 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, 51 in the Macao SAR, and 1,133 in Taiwan.
