Mainland reports 5 new local virus cases in Yunnan

BEIJING/KUNMING – The Chinese mainland on Sunday reported five new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases in Yunnan, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Monday.

According to the local health authorities, four of the new cases were registered in the city of Ruili while the remaining one was posted in Longchuan county under the Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture that borders Myanmar. All of the fresh infections were identified during mass nucleic acid testings.

Meanwhile, the mainland also saw 26 new imported cases, eight of which were reported in Guangdong, five in Yunnan, four in Shanghai, three in Shaanxi, and one each in Beijing, Inner Mongolia, Zhejiang, Fujian, Henan and Gansu.

By the end of Sunday, the mainland had reported a total of 92,277 confirmed cases, along with 87,076 recoveries and 4,636 deaths

No new suspected cases or deaths related to COVID-19 were reported Sunday.

By the end of Sunday, the mainland had reported a total of 92,277 confirmed cases, along with 87,076 recoveries and 4,636 deaths. A total of 7,010 imported cases had been reported with no fatalities.

There were 565 patients still receiving treatment, 13 of whom were in severe condition, the commission said.

Also on Sunday, 17 new asymptomatic cases were reported, all of which were from outside the mainland.

By the end of Sunday, 11,958 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 212 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR),  55 cases in the Macao SAR, and 15,408 cases, including 768 deaths, in Taiwan.

A total of 11,682 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, 53 in the Macao SAR, and 12,243 in Taiwan.

Nearly 1.46 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered across the mainland as of Sunday, the commission said.
