Mainland reports 6 new local COVID-19 cases

BEIJING – Wednesday saw six locally-transmitted COVID-19 cases reported on the Chinese mainland, the National Health Commission said on Thursday.

Of the six local cases, five were reported in Dalian, northeast China's Liaoning province, and one in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, southwest China's Yunnan province, the commission said in its daily report.

As of Wednesday, there were 1,233 confirmed cases receiving treatment, 16 of whom were in severe condition

A total of 29 imported cases were also newly reported on Wednesday, the commission said.

No new deaths from COVID-19 or new suspected cases were reported on Wednesday, said the report.

A total of 9,948 imported cases had been reported on the mainland by the end of Wednesday. Of them, 9,558 had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, and 390 remained under treatment. No deaths had been reported among the imported cases.

As of Wednesday, the mainland had reported a total of 98,403 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Of them, 92,534 had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, and 4,636 had died as a result of the virus.

Currently, there were 1,233 confirmed cases receiving treatment, 16 of whom were in severe condition. There were three suspected infections on the mainland.

A total of 27 asymptomatic cases were newly reported Wednesday, all of whom were from outside the mainland. There were a total of 494 asymptomatic cases, including 347 imported ones, still under medical observation as of Wednesday.

By the end of Wednesday, 12,391 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 213 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), while 77 cases had been reported in the Macao SAR, and 16,503 cases, including 848 deaths, had been reported in Taiwan.

A total of 12,099 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, while 77 had been discharged in the Macao SAR, and 13,742 had been discharged in Taiwan.
