Senior Chinese legislators meet to deliberate law drafts

BEIJING – The Council of Chairpersons of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee held a meeting on Tuesday in Beijing.

The meeting, presided over by Li Zhanshu, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, heard reports on changes made to a draft revision of the Law on the Protection of the Rights and Interests of Women, a draft law on the protection of the Yellow River, and a draft revision of the Animal Husbandry Law.

The meeting deliberated the drafts and ordered efforts to improve them after extensively heeding comments and suggestions.
