Virus: Mainland reports 57 new imported cases, 8 local infections

BEIJING – The Chinese mainland on Monday reported 57 fresh imported COVID-19 cases and eight new locally transmitted infections, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Tuesday.

The new local cases were reported in Yunnan province, the commission said.

Of the fresh imported cases, 41 were reported in Yunnan, four in Guangdong, three each in Tianjin, Shanghai and Hubei, and one each in Beijing, Fujian and Sichuan, it said.

By the end of Monday, the total number of confirmed cases on the mainland reached 92,342, along with 87,098 recoveries and 4,636 deaths

One suspected carrier who arrived from outside the mainland was identified in Shanghai, while no additional deaths related to COVID-19 were reported.

There were 608 patients still receiving treatment, 14 of whom were in severe condition, according to the commission.

By the end of Monday, the total number of confirmed cases on the mainland reached 92,342, along with 87,098 recoveries and 4,636 deaths. A total of 7,067 imported cases had been reported with no deaths.

Also on Monday, 19 new asymptomatic cases were reported, of which 17 were from outside the mainland and one each from Guangdong and Yunnan.

By the end of Monday, 11,958 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 212 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 55 cases in the Macao SAR, and 15,429 cases, including 769 deaths, in Taiwan.

A total of 11,686 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, 53 in the Macao SAR, and 12,268 in Taiwan.

More than 1.46 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered across the mainland as of Monday, the commission said.
